About Flexi-Films UK
Flexi-Films UK is a leading supplier of flexible packaging films across the UK and Europe. Based in the East Midlands, the business sources innovative packaging materials from around the world, supplying products used in a wide range of everyday applications, from snack packaging to ready meal films.
Founded by Andy and Lisa Davies, Flexi-Films has grown from a family business operating from home into a multi-million-pound organisation. The company combines specialist industry knowledge with a customer-first approach, helping manufacturers access high-quality packaging solutions while delivering exceptional service.
At the heart of the business is a commitment to building long-term relationships, working closely with customers and suppliers to identify innovative packaging solutions and support business growth.
Challenge
As Flexi-Films expanded, the business needed to invest heavily in stock to meet customer demand and maintain service levels. At the same time, global supply chain disruption created additional pressure on cashflow.
Many overseas suppliers increasingly required payment upfront, while ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and disruption to international trade routes placed further strain on working capital requirements.
Andy Davies, Managing Director at Flexi-Films UK, explains:
"As the business continues to grow, we've had to put a lot of investment into stock management. We also face challenges every day from supply chains around the world, especially when it comes to material sourcing from the Far East... Cashflow is a big part of our business and without support we would really struggle to pay our suppliers while continuing to grow."
Solution
To support ongoing growth and help manage working capital requirements, Flexi-Films partnered with Bibby Financial Services (BFS). Using an invoice finance facility, the business can release funds tied up in unpaid invoices, giving it access to the cashflow needed to purchase stock, pay suppliers and fund growth opportunities. The company also utilises BFS's foreign exchange service, helping it manage international supplier payments while securing competitive exchange rates.
Sarah Payne, Relationship Manager at Bibby Financial Services said:
“Flexi-Films is a great example of an ambitious business that knows where it wants to go. Our role is to make sure the financial support behind the business keeps pace with that ambition, giving Andy and the team the confidence and flexibility to make decisions for the future.”
Working with Bibby Financial Services
Beyond providing funding solutions, BFS has built a close working relationship with Flexi-Films, taking time to understand the business, its ambitions and the challenges it faces.
Regular reviews and ongoing communication have helped ensure the funding package continues to support the company's changing needs as it grows.
"Bibby Financial Services became the right partner for Flexi-Films because they understood us from day one. They took the time to sit down with us, discuss what we needed, what we wanted and where the future was going."
Impact
With support from BFS, Flexi-Films has been able to continue its growth journey while maintaining strong relationships with customers and suppliers.
The business has successfully scaled from a home-based operation into a multi-million-pound company and continues to invest in its people, products and customer offering.
Today, Flexi-Films serves customers across the UK and Europe, sourcing innovative packaging solutions from around the world while maintaining the family values that helped build the business.
Andy Davies said:
"The future is continued growth. We want to ensure that we are best in class. Everything we do is for the benefit of the business, our customers and our staff. No matter how large we grow, we want to keep those family business values."
