£8k raised for local Hospice
BFS fundraises for charity through networking events
The Liverpool team at small and medium-sized business funder, Bibby Financial Services, has raised £8,000 for the Woodlands Hospice in Aintree, Liverpool over the past year thanks to the generous support of their local business network.
The Woodlands Hospice Charitable Trust was set up in 1991 in order to raise the necessary funds to build and run the Woodlands Hospice. The trust and subsequent hospice were set up because local GPs, nurses and hospital staff felt there was a need for the care and support of those with life-threatening illnesses in North Liverpool.
The hospice is required to raise £2,000 every day to ensure that all services and facilities remain free of charge for patients and their families.
Over the course of 2014, Bibby Financial Services has raised money to support the hospice by holding a series of sporting events for its business partners such as local accountants, brokers and advisors.
The business held a series of golf days as well as a ‘Champions’ Cheltenham race day at the Bierkeller in Liverpool involving over 100 people.
Mike Calvert, Head of Sales for the North West at Bibby Financial Services, said: “Local charities and facilities like the Woodlands Hospice need as much support as possible from local businesses and it has been a real pleasure to contribute to such a worthy cause this year.
“We would like to thank our intermediary network for their generosity as without their help we would not have been able to raise this incredible sum for such a commendable local charity.”
Bibby Financial Services’ parent company Bibby Line Group began trading in Liverpool in 1807 and still has a presence in Liverpool with an office on Duke Street.
Bibby Line Group is responsible for the unique Giving Something Back scheme, which encourages employees and customers to support hundreds of small local causes, that often struggle for funding and who have strong ties within the local communities in which Bibby is located.
Since its creation, Bibby Line Group’s Giving Something Back scheme has raised more than £7.5million* for a range of charities. (*As of August 2014).
